This is going to be an awkward turtle moment, because while I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog of my own, in order to better spew the mindless drivel that comes to mind every day, I’m not fully committed to the idea. Nor have I decided who is my intended audience.

The thing is that I HAVE a blog. Not that it’s mine, but I have access to write, as an authority, on a very popular blog. And I don’t. Because I get bogged down in the details of what it takes to be an authority on a subject. If you’re going to put yourself out there, you have to make sure you’re correct – because the internet is FULL of smart people who will call you out on your shit. And, even worse, the internet is also teeming with complete idiots, who relish the chance to catch you at something mockable. And, I, for one, am genuinely not secure enough to deal with being mocked by an idiot.

My worldview works a lot better if I can assume a certain position. And I think I’m pretty smart. Smart people do not receive their comuppance from complete idiots. If they do, they are no longer… “smart people.” And I don’t do well when I am exposed as possibly not a smart person.

This blog will be full of digressions.

And words that are more diffucult to spell than necessary.

Anyway. I”m not sure who I would like to read this. Only complete strangers? Do I want my friends to find it? Do I, in ANY way, wish to have identifiable information on this blog?

I don’t know yet. And so for now, I won’t. Maybe one day i’ll get it all hooked up to Facebook, and people who REALLY know me can find out what I REALLY think.

But probably not.

Also, as someone who has access to the inner-workings of a successful blog, I’m aware that there are all kinds of widgets and gizmos and whatnot and themes to make a particular blog more… awesome.

This will be a work in progress, so by giving you a heads-up, I’m really just giving myself permission to learn as I go… without relinquishing my “smart person” title.
